41,000 dwt Brussel was converted to belt self-unloader by SMT Shipping in 2000 and included the addition of a single PLM 3520 crane on gantry. This vessel is able to self-load from barges at the rate of 30,000t/day and self-unloads at about the same rate. Brussel is the simplest, most durable and most effective ship conversion yet undertaken and has been in regular service with three cargo operations per month by her crane since December of 2000.
